The Johnson City Commission voter guide starts this week

Early voting starts Wednesday, October 14 — and this week, localz hub is giving Johnson City voters something new: a voter guide built around one idea. The same five questions, answered by every commission candidate, in one place.

Every candidate for Johnson City Commission is getting the same invitation: answer five questions in writing (a few sentences each), plus an optional 60-second video clip from their phone. Answers get published rolling right here on localz hub, in full, with a short framing intro — no endorsements, no spin.

The five questions:

1. Your story — what's your Johnson City story, and why are you running for commission now?
2. Downtown + small business — what's the one thing the city should do in the next two years to help local businesses thrive?
3. Keeping people here — what does Johnson City need to do to keep young people and working families from leaving for Knoxville, Asheville, or beyond?
4. Trust — a lot of residents say city hall feels far away. How do you actually listen, and how would you keep listening after the election?
5. The pulse — what's your favorite spot in Johnson City, the place you'd take a visitor to prove this town has a pulse?

The neutrality line: every candidate gets the same slot, free, no exceptions. Ads never buy column inches.

Invitations are going out to all thirteen commission candidates this week, and answers due by Wednesday evening get top placement as early voting begins. Watch the Politicz tab — the guide starts dropping this week.
